BABY DUCKS SWIMMING ROUND SKIPPER’S BOAT

Here is a family of Eider ducks in Rhu Marina where Skipper took his boat after carefully motoring down the river Clyde from Dumbarton. If you look carefully you will see six mother ducks surrounding six babies. From the size of the ducklings there are the remnants of two or maybe three families. The mother ducks find the pontoons in the marina help protect their babies from gulls and other predators. Also they like to dabble about in the weed that grows there. Male Eider duck take no part in rearing their young, but at this time, gather together in flotillas out on the sea. Skipper past a huge one in the Clyde Estuary. To sit in the cockpit in the warm evening sun, watching these beautiful birds is happiness.
